PianoInfo, based in the Netherlands, is responsible for the processing of personal data as set out in this privacy policy. We attach great importance to the protection of your privacy and the security of your data.
This privacy policy applies to all services of PianoInfo and was last updated on January 1, 2026.
What data do we collect?
Account Data
During registration we collect:
- Username
- Email address
- Password (stored encrypted, see below)
Business Data (optional)
Dealers can voluntarily provide:
- Business name and description
- Address details
- Phone number and email address
- Website and Chamber of Commerce number
- Logo
Piano Data
For instruments you add:
- Brand, model, type and specifications
- Prices (purchase and sale)
- Dates and VAT details
- Photos
Technical Data
For the functioning of the website:
- Session cookies for login status
- IP address (only in server logs for security)
Security of your data
Password Security
Your password is stored encrypted using bcrypt hashing. This means that even the administrator of PianoInfo cannot view or retrieve your password. If you lose your password, only you can set a new password via the password reset function.
Data Separation
Your password is encrypted and cannot be viewed by anyone. The PianoInfo administrator has limited access for support purposes to:
- Your account details and business profile
- Your piano listings and public price information (asking prices)
The administrator does not have access to:
- Your password
- Your purchase prices and financial data
- Your VAT settings and reports
- Your direct communication with customers
Important: Your purchase prices and financial data are also not visible to other users or visitors of the website. This data is only shown in your own dashboard.
Encryption of Financial Data
Your sensitive financial data is additionally secured with AES-256 encryption, the same encryption standard used by banks and governments. This includes:
- Purchase prices
- VAT type and VAT rate
- Purchase dates
This data is stored encrypted in the database. Even in case of unauthorized access to the database, this data is unreadable without the encryption key, which is stored separately and securely.
Additional security measures:
- HTTPS encryption for all data traffic
- Servers hosted in the Netherlands at Railway
- Regular security updates
- No resale of data to third parties
What do we use your data for?
- Creating and managing your account
- Displaying your instruments to potential buyers
- Generating reports for your administration
- Sending emails for password recovery
- Improving our services
We do not sell your data to third parties and do not use it for marketing purposes of other parties.
Retention Periods
We retain your data as long as you have an active account. Upon deletion of your account, all your data will be permanently deleted within 30 days, including:
- Account data
- Business information
- All pianos and associated photos
- Transaction history
Your Rights
Under the GDPR, you have the following rights:
Right of Access
You can view all your data at any time via your dashboard.
Right to Data Portability
You can download a complete export of all your data via Dashboard → My Profile → Download Complete Backup.
Right to Rectification
You can edit your data yourself via your dashboard.
Right to Erasure
You can delete your account and all associated data via Dashboard → My Profile → Delete Account.
Right to Object
You can object to the processing of your data by contacting us.
Cookies
We only use functional cookies that are necessary for the functioning of the website, such as remembering your login status. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party cookies for advertising purposes.
